Even in Sarawak too. The constitutional provision allowing Sarawak citizenry using English language is made redundunt by the fact that our education system is Malaya-controlled because we in Malaysia. Every decision and budget planning are done by Putra Jaya where UMNO is in control. Remember ketuhanan Melayu?

Under ketuahan Melayu UMNO send thousands of Malay student overseas, Australia, NZ, UK, USA and Ireland using scholarships. These students upon their return to tnahair will take up high position in government, and will join UMNO and one day become leaders in government.

We the Dayak can forget it because even as Bumiputra we are below that of "Melayu". In the constitution the work "Malay" is prominent but "Dayaks and the various sub-tribes" are placed under a separate article.

Unless and until the BN government is changed nothing will change the present fact that under Malaysia we must learn in our school all subjects by using Bahasa Melayu. Never mind the fact that the science and maths and english are developed very fast so the translation of these subjects will be 10 years behind before they are taught in school. That's is ok as long as Sarawak remains BN Fixed Deposit in the GE13.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6241154554081401786.post-39239016327895377632012-02-22T14:06:51.219+08:002012-02-22T14:06:51.219+08:00Malaysians especially Sarawakians should be given ...Malaysians especially Sarawakians should be given the option whether they want to attend the Malay or English medium school.

I think many of us still prefer English because this language is the global language and not Bahasa Malaysia that is only used in Malaysia. Even so, we still can speak Bahasa Malaysia quite well in our daily life.

The Education Department should conduct the study and consider views from all Sarawakians and then decide whether to continue with the Bahasa Malaysia policy. Otherwise, this new policy will fail. That happened to the previous flip-flop policy.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6241154554081401786.post-82151772235074119532012-02-22T11:26:08.561+08:002012-02-22T11:26:08.561+08:00A very obvious display of Putrajaya trying to sho...A very obvious display of Putrajaya trying to show that Sarawak is a mere colony of Malaya and should therefore adopt Bahasa Melayu as our official language. Dewan Bahasa Pustaka should know very well that there is an 18-point agreement when we formed Malaysia which should be fulfilled. Sarawakians should now speak up boldly if we the Malayans tried to boast over us as if we are their colony. Look what happen to our children; most of them from local university graduates with master degrees can't even speak English! In Sarawak especially in the rural where the Dayaks live, we don't need the ustaz and the ustazah teachers. What are the govt motive by sending them? Very sad to say there are some Dayaks who are willing to sell their souls just to live a short good lives in this world by supporting this type of govt.DGnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6241154554081401786.post-27272243213975342922012-02-22T07:43:44.943+08:002012-02-22T07:43:44.943+08:00Non-english speaking teachers from semenanjung are...Non-english speaking teachers from semenanjung are teaching english in schools in Sarawak.

More ustaz and ustazah from semenanjung are teaching in schools in Sarawak both in rural & urban.

Ministers are sending their childrens to overseas for better educations and english speaking.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6241154554081401786.post-17487200268461130942012-02-21T10:56:01.988+08:002012-02-21T10:56:01.988+08:00Being multi-lingual is always an advantage.I see n...Being multi-lingual is always an advantage.I see no reason as to why a group should oppose the other about their preference of a particular language. While Bahasa Malaysia is considered an official language, there is no harm to liase or communicate in English. In Sarawak, most of the government agencies are not short of staffs who command good English. The wide usage of English on the other hand, should not be blamed for the stagnation of Bahasa Malaysia. Therefore, there should be freedom as to what language we prefer to use at our convenient. The ministers and politicians are sending their children overseas not because they are good at Bahasa Malaysia, its because they can speak and write in English. So why want to make it compulsory to liase in Bahasa Malaysia when you could not even get out of Malaysia with it!!.Apai iraunoreply@blogger.com
