Latest news on the Batang Ai by-election

This blog tonight received unconfirmed reports that the chief minister, Abdul Taib Mahmud, is said to have rejected the sole nomination of Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) for the Batang Ai by-election.

PRS president, James Masing had on 4 March submitted one name only as its nominee for the by-election to the chief minister for his “consideration”. The Prime Minister and his Deputy had also been notified.

What Masing should have done was to say that “this is our man” and whether Taib Mahmud approves or disapproves is immaterial. It was Masing’s mistake to give Taib the sole authority to consider its nomination. Using that given authority, Taib was forced to make a decision and his decision was to reject the nomination.

He has, however, asked Masing to submit a number of names for his consideration.

Its not Masing's fault for submitting only one name to CM for consideration. What is the point of summitting more names when Jabu already made known his intention to nominate Malcolm Mussen?
If only BN gave Masing and PRS a free hand in nominating candidate the problem should not have arised.

Masing is just like past Dayak leaders. They talk big but when it comes to the crunch, they all have to kowtow to Taib. Taib will listen to Jabu because he needs someone to polish his apple and Jabu is the expert who never fail him.

Does this not prove that PRS is merely a subsidiary of Taib's and Jabu's PBB?

masing should pull out his party from bn house and join the pakatan rakyat. j masin ...have to realise that tahip never respect his (jin masin) decision.

that is how the babun tuai controled and denied the right of others bn party component.

for the voter of Batang Ai...please vote for PKR/Pakatan Rakyat.

It does not matter to the men on Lubok Antu street, who will be BN candidate for Batang Ai,whether he/she is nominated by PRS or PBB.The core issue here is that the candidate will be BN candidate, who fully subscribed to BN draconian policy towards the Dayaks. As i have earlier commented Masing has wholeheartedly implemented Taib's draconian policy towards the Dayaks without any reservations. It is Masing presence in Taib's cabinet that gave legitimacy to Taib's policy towards the the Dayaks, hence giving rise to an unhealthy rivalry between Masing and Mawan as to who is No1 or No 2 in the eyes of Taib.We cannot in all honesty be certain that Masing's nominee will make a difference in Batang Ai vis-a vis BN policy. The track record of the previous representative speaks for itself, inspite being Masing close confidante. An acquiescent Masing does not equate with being bullied.I have not heard any accusation against Jabu being bullied.Jabu has acquiesece to all requests and the same goes to Masing.Masing is on autopilot mode with pre charted political course set by Taib.Masing will not bite the hands that feed him and also he knows which side his bread is buttered. This is a class of people who never pays for things. What you are discussing is akin to Masing submitting Borneo Warrior's name as a candidate for Layar against Jabu in the forthcoming Election,i seek your indulgence in using the crude analogy to drive a point but is now public knowledge that he intends to stand in Layar.THe objective of Borneo Warrior article Battle Royale is a damage-control exercise for is master-Masing-to protray Masing is being bullied by PBB.

I am not a PKR member.I am not a Dayak Iban. I am not a Batangian. I am in favour of Dayak based and Sarawak based political party. However Due to our common enemy in the persons of Jabu the Irrelevant Jabu and Taib the Irrelevant; AND our common mission of salvaging Sarawak and Dayaks, I will vote for any candidates that will oppose Sarawak BN. Since PR allows PKR to put in the candidate, I will support The Pig, if PKR's candidate is The Pig.
Therefore Bawin and Jawah are non-issue.

Masing must be having a sleepless night these days. Why? Taib and Jabu could not be bothered about him. He is just an appendex - like an unwanted child. I am sure Masing, when taking his shower, would sing "I am Nobody's Child" made famous by Lulu. What he proposes will remain a proposal, just like that.

hello there everyone.
Both Jawah and bawin are good representatives BUT please for the sake of iban unity, puy aside any self interest. Whoever is elected to represent the ibans, please stand united jawah and bawin, i beg you two. You two are both going to have your own moment of representation, just be patience.
To jawah, you make more noise thus you are far far alot better than a sleeping Nyallau and Masir during dewan sitting.

A slap in the face for Masing and all PRS members. Now in this instance, dayaks in Batang Ai see Masing as a whimp. To Taib, you guys at PRS are irrelevant and are just pawns to keep the dayaks disunited. Eventually PRS will die a death not unsimilar to PBDS and all YBs of other BN political parties in Sarawak will be allocated to PBB trojan horses with maybe the exception of SUPP. To save face maybe Masing should do a malayan style "flip flop" the hallmark of the federal government!

The Dayaks leaders must now think and look beyond 2009 what is best for the people and not for their pockets. Many when elected as YB forget the poor people and do nothing at all . Spend their time in Kuching and only runs back when election is coming. We need leaders to help the people not their POCKETS.

JT/Dayakbaru, what's the fuss all about?
Why suddenly our Blogger fiend Sarawak Headhunter and Dominique Ng goes for each other throat, with Dayakbaru trying to stop the fire but get himself elbowed instead and USA trying his best to pour water but got kerosene instead by claiming Sarawak Headhunter is under BN payroll which the later denied? Tiyung Dayak may now play the role of mediator but Uchu Keling insist that best man win while Borneo Warrior is watching from sideline and clapping hands but poor me is driving on dusty road to Batang Ai trying to calm down our supporters... I hope I will not fail but if I do I'Ll I get screwed, tolong, tolong.

Well, it’s fair enough for Masing, as he has “segregated” himself from the Dayaks’ plight! The time is NOW to get him “socialize”…

Now, let’s all “socialize” with him! Masing-masing ambel tempat dudok, OK!

Being a Phd holder, his idea was ignored. How pity...he is being bullied. How to lead his own community when his ideas are always rejected, not agreed upon.

Jackson Mangan said...

Yup, very pity and pathetic… I hope that he – from now on – will compose some copies of his résumé and send it to local Us for the post of lecturer, lah. No, it’s a noble idea, actually! Many have done it before. Well, he can share his thoughts, experience and ideas with both undergrad and grad students.

TunA, I do share the same sentiment with you on support for a new and strong Dayak or Sarawak-based party! Heh…

May be we all wrong about JJM. What happens if CM-T issue a piece of balak to him, will he not agree that PBB do another parking under his flag.....Eventually, when PRS have only half occupants PRS and half passengers PBB, PBB will insist PRS change the president to PBB man, and PRS will change name PBBRS being a SUBSIDARY to PBB...nothing secret and impossible!!!!

Let me add some factual information to what Apai has commented.Borneo Warrior was the person who arranged for Baginda Minda to come out with statement that PRS was bullied by PBB,with the full knowledge of Masing.Baginda was interviewed by one PK and later issued Baginda statement. The interview was conducted at Hilton KL Sentral.Masing was given liberty to deny any knowledge of the matter. It was thought that Masing can use it as a leverage as he was courted by PKR at that time.

Siapa diantara kunci pepercahan PBDS? sehingga PBDS di haramkan?

Batang air once again fall into hand of PBB.

i suggest semua ahli PRS masuk PBB saja.Forget about PBDS, forget abaout IBAN identity , Jadi Melayu Bumiputera lagi senang. Bukan kah Iban juga sebahagian dari Melayu?

The biggest comunity in sarawak now berpecah.

Tiab repesent Iban .

DeePo... you are to young to talk politics, Pls . stay away and focus on your study.

To DeePo,

I agree with PIBG’s comment. However, please do not misunderstand his statement, as he doesn’t mean that you should totally abandon any of (our) political blogs. Do feel free to surf it (during your free time) in order to update yourself on local politics. If you may, please surf for other international news and politics, which are abound online. Then, hopefully you’ll get a better view about today’s happenings around the world.

Yes, of course, you are hereby encouraged to improve your written and oral English. Once you have master that language, it would be easier for you to pen your thoughts. Do write some essay on any subject; feel free to write anything, as long as it is written in English. Don’t feel discourage. I’m the one who have emerged from Bahasa Melayu medium. Even until now I’m still learning to improve my English language. Yes, thanks to blogging; it does help me a lot! Bahasa Melayu??? Well, like other languages other than English, it will remain “stagnant” in its own native country. Bahasa Melayu is just meant for Malaysians bloggers and not for foreign bloggers. I’m sorry about that… Even if we surf to Indonesian blogs, definitely we’ll abandon it – as soon as possible – because we don’t fully understand Bahasa Indonesia! Anyway, the ALKITAB is different…

Yaaah… don’t be like those stooges who are against the teaching of English for science and mathematics, as both subjects do have its own technical terms and meanings. I’m going tell you my own story. During my U-days, our lecturer had passed the burden upon us – to do some translation work for him. This lecturer “was going to” translate an English textbook into Bahasa Melayu – only to be done by his students! It’s a 20% of the “lab/practical requirement (latihan amali)” in order to pass his subject! Yup, another form of “forced slavery”… Of course, the translation contained lots of errors. However, I’m not sure whether the translated work from English into Bahasa Melayu was published or not. That’s why one should never trust a translated works; do get the original book (or source).

Anyway, I think, a girl at your age should enjoy friendstering/facebooking first, as politicking is totally different. You have got to have a strong foundation – knowledgeable, brainy; and of course mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually fit in order to face brutal, online warfare(s) ahead! Another thing for you to qualify as a political blogger is that you should be a registered voter and have cast your vote(s) before. Then, “automatically” you are an eligible one! So, please get your “License to Kill” first… L.O.L.!!!

Good day and may you succeed in your mission possible in the near future.

GBU (God Bless You!)

To DeePo (again?!),

Yaaah… of course I’ve visited your blog before – I have read one or two of your replies in Dyaksblog. But then, you need some improvement. I don’t think Pak PIBG – whenever he visits your blog – will understand the terms that you used in your blog. He might be dizzy then as he is already an old man… Really?!

L.O.L.!!!

To both of you, jangan marrreeeee yék!
