Anwar’s message to the Dayaks ~ ref. Malaysiakini

De facto leader of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), Anwar Ibrahim’s message to 5,000 people, the majority of them were Dayaks last night was loud and clear - if they wanted their NCR land back, then they must help Pakatan Rakyat (People’s Alliance) topple the State Barisan Nasional government.

“With your support we can change this government. But we must start now and must work very hard,” he said at a dinner at Mile 4 in Kuching. Anwar knew that Dayaks had suffered as a result of their NCR land being taken away by the State Government.

He assured that the problems involving the NCR land could be solved within six months if Pakatan Rakyat comprising PKR, DAP and PAS was to form the next State government.

“We will return the land to the people. This is my message to the people of Sarawak,” he said and added: “Look at Selangor. It has changed tremendously after Pakatan Rakyat under Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim as Menteri Besar. This is the reason I bring Khalid to Kuching tonight so that he can tell you about Selangor.”

Indeed land has become a major issue in every election in the State. But the sad thing is that it was not “hot” enough to win votes for the candidates who challenged the BN candidates in the rural areas. The reason was simple: the people were sweet-talked to vote for BN candidates in exchange for bounties. They were blinded by the “ang pow” of RM20 or RM30 in addition to minor rural development projects promised to them.

No doubt there is political tsunami brewing in West Malaysia after last March election. But for such a change to take place here in Sarawak, two things that need to be stressed here.

It is important for PKR to have quality candidates, candidates who have a cause to fight rather than “kaki lima” candidates who are only serving their own personal agenda as it is also equally important for Sarawakians especially Dayaks to know what they really want in the coming election: change this present government or remain being subordinated at least for the next five years. The choice is ours as voters. – The Broken Shield

What,so cheap,RM20-30.In Kuala Trengganu, the malays were given RM500-1000 to vote for umno.So in sarawak, the bagman must be making alot of money. No wonder we have so many crooks around when elections comes.
Yes,the choice is all yours,my dayak friends. If you miss this window of opportunities,it won't come by for a longtime. You must indeed start now by going to all the longhouse and part what you heard from Anwar.
All the Tuai Rumah must be kick out if they don't listen to the majority voices. For RM 450 ,this Tuai Rumah can be manupiliated by the gov't to their advantage.
This homework must start NOW.
VOTE PKR AND DAP for peace and stability.

The Land Code can be amended only by two-thirds of the state assembly - a passage to return NCR land to the landowners. To achieve this objective PR has to work hard to win at less 48 seats or more. This is not an easy task anyway, but nothing is impossible.

The message is loud and clear for the Dayaks whether they still want to support the ruling 'Be End' or Pakatan Rakyat..

If the Dayaks really want to see CHANGE in the government policies especially with regards to NCR Land Code, then it is only wise for them to vote Pakatan Rakyat candidates in the next General Election.

Hidup Pakatan!!

Anwar says it again: We’ll capture Sarawak

Tony Thien | January 10, 2009
----------------------------------
Anwar Ibrahim has reiterated his confidence that opposition alliance Pakatan Rakyat will form the Sarawak government due to local disenchantment with the Barisan Nasional state administration.

With his trademark oratory skills, the opposition leader told an elated crowd of more than 5,000 at a ‘Friends of PKR’ dinner in Kuching this evening that opposition parties will work together to unseat BN and long serving chief minister, Abdul Taib Mahmud.

On the same note, the PKR de facto leader assured that a Pakatan Rakyat state government will work to safeguard and protect the people’s land and rights.

According to him, if Pakatan Rakyat forms government, it will introduce the necessary legislation within six months to return to the people what rightly belongs to them such as land.

He said BN had claimed prior to the March 8, 2008 general election that the opposition will not be able understand the mechanics of running a government. This has been proven to be incorrect following the opposition alliance gaining control of four states, apart from retaining Kelantan, he added.

”Yes, we do not understand the economics of stealing people’s lands,” he quipped.

----------------------------------
Takes a swipe at Alfred Jabu

During his speech, the opposition leader also took a swipe at one of his chief critics in Sarawak, Deputy Chief Minister Alfred Jabu.Anwar, who received a standing ovation at the end of his 25 -minute speech, said Jabu should find ways to help the Dayak community instead of wasting time criticising him.

Later, Anwar received 3,000 membership application forms from former PRS member of parliament for Sri Aman Jimmy Donald for 20 PRS divisions.

He also received a memorandum from representatives of 32 Bidayuh families from the Bejoi and Pain Bojong villages in the Bengoh area which is affected by the construction of the RM320 million Bengoh Dam.

The villagers have refused to be resettled to a site proposed by the state government and urged Anwar to raise their plight in Parliament.

Also present at the dinner were Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim, PKR secretary-general Dato Sallehuddin Hashim and several PKR MPs and state representatives.

Anwar arrived in Kuching from Kuala Lumpur by AirAsia and contrary to earlier reports suggesting he might be banned from entering, he got through without any hindrance. Khalid arrived earlier in a MAS flight.

Following a late night meeting with state PKR leaders, Anwar and Khalid will leave for Kuala Lumpur tomorrow morning.

Plain and simple. We want our lands back! We want our children to inherit and harvest our lands. What have been stolen from us should be returned back to us. We, the rightful owners are refused titles but big corporations are given permission to take over our lands. BN has failed us imcluding one of our kind named Alfred.

WAH!!!.

This post offers good advice to those who wish to challenge BN. PKR, especially, should not be cavalier about the choice of candidates. Low quality and opportunistic candidates are destined to fail.

Atleast Anwar is sending a strong message to BN YBs in Sarawak regarding NCR land grabbing issues.

Now is high time for the dayak to rock and roll those BN YBs in Sarawak, that we really means business pertaining to NCR land.

The dayak are not against any development in their land but let the dayak have majority share or profit from such development. Let those NCR land be issued land titles.

Dayak has been under BN for so long and the dayak are on the losing side, as they are being conned by BN on NCR land in the name of 'project of development', or 'wawasan 2020'.

Look at Sarawak in the past 5 years, hardly there are any major developments. 10 years ago, there are not much minor developments, too. But in those 5 to 10 years ago, we saw much development on NCR land being grabbed for oil palms project. But whose project it is belong to? Who will gain much profit? Surely not the dayak.

Enough is enough.

BN or DN (The End)...!

It's all ours! It's just that they thought that they are the boss so they take whatever things they think is their. It's not just take, they steal and plunder what in fact is all ours.
So let start this process by joining PKR or DAP and work our way up,until all this land that belongs to our forefathers are taken back. Those big oil palm companies must be chase out and their land return to rightful owner.hose who plunder must be brought to justice and if found guilty,be sent to jail.
Alfred Jabu must answer all allegations linking him to selling NCR lands to those outsiders. The dayak must wake up now and PR is the only vehicle that can make this dream a reality.Start now and we must bring change to Sarawak.Yes,we can!

HARAPAN KEPADA KERAJAAN PAKATAN RAKYAT...

Saya ada beberap permintaan kalau PR berjaya jadi kerajaan negri Swk.

Ex. PC Agom

You only need a simple majority. A 2/3 majority is not require as we are not amending the constitution but only the land code, which is like any other statute.

A seminar for women on "Harapan Baru" was held yesterday. I was impressed as now, PKR has strategies for us to win. Unlike previously, we are alike BN in their strategies. Strategies are not only in PACA but also in groomng the candidates and teaching them in public speaking. Every tiny detail are looked into.

Anytime in the future, if there is a seminar organised by PKR, make an effort to come.

Mr. Anonymous,
Thanks alot for correction, overlooked. But 2\3 majority or more seats are still best if we can accomplish.Let we work hard and pray for our success.

Henry Anak Joseph said...

I beg to differ with Ex-PC Agom. It does not require a two-third majority of the members of the House to amend any provision of the State Land Code or to repeal it. Like any other ordinances, it only requires a simple majority of those present and voting.

Two-third majority of the members of the House (DUN) is required for any constitutional amendment though. State Land Code is just an ordinary legislation and not in any way form part or integral part of the State Constitution. Therefore if Pakatan Rakyat can form a government by simple majority it has no difficulty in amending any provision of the Land Code.

I agree with Aya Jetty.

We do not need kaki lima candidates and sadly so, there are few high profile kaki lima soon to be members in PKR. These are doubtful characters that if they were admitted into the fold, i'm sure sooner or later they'll become excess baggage that tend to create disharmony and disunity.

I do not have to elaborate but these people are looking for temporary reprieve and they are not genuine people who fight for the rakyat.

I wish to remind the people again to wisely choose your wakil rakyat that serve you totally, reject nepotism, cronyism and corruption, that are humbly attentive to your problems and of course that do not rob your land in the daylight.

Election is coming near whether we like it or not and this is the moment for us to choose freely without fear so that we can stand on par with other developed nations that practice democracy.

Wong Ho Leng said...

Henry, your comment on the manner the Land Code is to be amended is correct.

I have moved motions on matters concerning Land in the DUN. So far no luck as all my land motions were defeated. Of course, Broken Shield needs no reminder that not a single Iban/Dayak/Malay/Melanau/Chinese ADUN from the BN had supported my motions.

I had spoken on NCR problems. But BN's Iban YBs do not seem to share our concern.

Time to change mindset, I suppose.

I believe that if we, Sarawakians do not make a stand and topple the BN government, one day we will be fighting over our land, alike the Tragedy in Gaza. The Israelites are fighting over their land which was taken before. And by then, the world who doesn't know the history will put the blame on the Israelites, but actually it is the opposite. Think about it, we will be like them if not actions are taken today.

In Swk DUN, it is useless whether a 2/3 majority or 99% opposing over an issue if Old Man says his decision....His words will never challenged by his own Bee-Ant men; never from SUPP, from SPDP and zero from PRS.

Recently, only DAP men/women dare speak out but that makes him very very anry....but then what can be change him? the answer is

"DENY THEM TOTALLY ALL THE SEATS IN DUN" with your electoral rights..

Start tell our old Apai & Indai every time you sit with them at breakfast, lunch, dinner and when you have a family "berandau"...

The young ones know what to do, no worry. They all want the "Eddy Amin" of Sarawak to be sent to Somalia become Head-of-the Pirates there..Rob and keep on robbing...

Anonymous said...

To all Swakians especially the dayaks, now is the time to replace the bee-ant wild-bees by starting to tell our apai, indai, aya,ibu and aki enggau ini not to be tipu by them that they take care of our rights/interest with reference to our land, employment, scholarship, etc etc.vote to pkr and dap.dead to bee-ant.

I wrote this early morning @06:28AM before I even taken breakfast. And now I read from Mr.Wong HL the same story....So again I have to cry out to you again:

My dear Dayak/Iban madik. We are losing time every second waiting our trusted and elected YBs to speak out for us in DUN. To our great disappointment, they sit quiet holding their balls in front the King of the Kingdom of Alligators. We have Afraid Jabu, Georgie Boy, James Ikan Masin, William Bawang, the 4 great leaders who hated so much any opposition YBs who annoy the King and his crony...So the small handfull of alligators can make fool of the DUN. If you oppose for the rights and good of your people, they will "crown" you RACISTS and may be the YAB Speaker will show you the door OUT>>>>>

So if you choose to survive your gifted privileges and "license to rob" from the King and continue to live good lives, SHUT YOURSELVES UP in DUN sitting..like our 4 great leaders of the era

Dont blame the people of Swk who have to make a choice

Let's forget about this 2/3. It is just figures. The land code is amenable and let us not squabble about this. rather we must focus our intention to change it as we the land owners are already shortchanged. Just do it in DUN.

The story is the same in Sabah. The rural folks are easily tempted by short-term gains and it is not easy to break the BN money bag, only education and desire greater than money can bring change.

I just discovered your blog and find it very interesting.

Putting you on my blog roll, hope you can do the same.Thanks.

This is rich pickings. I really want to rain on your parade, but the Dayaks are being sold another 3 legged donkey. It's the same with the Sarawak BN and it is the same with the Malayan BN. Both are regional and national brands. So what is the difference with Anwar's PKR, Lim's DAP (or PAP Twin for that matter) and PAS (if they dare set foot on Borneo)?

Anwar flies over here to tell us of his visions. Taib implements policies that deprives many of us of our ancestral lands, that Anwar's gifts of gold, myrrh and frankincense.

I want you all to read below. It is an excerpt from Tun Abdul Razak's speech dated 1965, and now with the benefit of hindsight, we know what he MEANT FOR DAYAKS ! This is why we joined with the other miserable independent malayans, to be kicked, to be degraded, to be marginalised and finally to be robbed. Is that the case now?

"We should do all we can to strengthen unity and friendship among the various races. The future of our country depends on this, and all our efforts will be of no use unless we achieve racial unity. This is the basis for happiness of our country" (The late Tun Razak, DPM, 1966 - Kuching)

So those who were displaced, were victims so they claim. Ignorance is no excuse in Malaysia, that is the real world today, so stop drinking your tuak, stop bragging, because we Dayaks are nothing in this Malaysia, and we were made to feel this way for the last 30 years. ANd E-V-E-R-Y B-O-D-Y knows that.

IN reality there is no difference between PKR and UMNO, or DAP and MCA for that matter. They will degrade and in the process, tear this country apart. We either choose to be victims or we choose to make our destiny. I am tired that we are regarded as the sideshow in Malaysia. Isn't it nice to be discriminated in your own country?

"Two-third majority of the members of the House (DUN) is required for any constitutional amendment though. State Land Code is just an ordinary legislation and not in any way form part or integral part of the State Constitution. " - Henry Joseph

Rest assured that DUN Speaker Arse-fia will send some goons to steal your prized belonging (such as rare tuak collection?) for trying to enlighten the rest of Dayaks with that DUN provisions. Baru Bian is a good example of how some goon named Lee Han Joke or something being planted to prevent him to become YB and unleash hell in DUN regarding Dayak land issues.

"I have moved motions on matters concerning Land in the DUN. So far no luck as all my land motions were defeated. Of course, Broken Shield needs no reminder that not a single Iban/Dayak/Malay/Melanau/Chinese ADUN from the BN had supported my motions.I had spoken on NCR problems. Yet another unsolved mystery eh? Perhaps Yang Berkhidmat Gabby Adit's remark on 'political castration' is suffice to debunk it.

Ok folks, we are very much indebted to Yang Berkhidmat Wong Ho Leng effort in voicing the NCR land issues all these while. A non-Dayak YB fighting for a cause that supposed to be raised by a Dayak YB, that's how funny a democracy can be to all Dayaks. As Awang Tanah insisted last year that any state lands can be those unmarked, un-titled lands of which vast area of it are Dayak lands, Dayak will lose more lands in the future. Keep your good job Mr.Wong, God bless you!

To fight for the future of your community, you should not look at short term gains.

Short term gains like each longhouse resident receiving cash and merrymaking through night is temporary before an election and you will go back to the political bondage.

You will lose everything, your NCR land , your basic rights and even your longhouse.

You will be led by the nose.

1. Who took their lands ?
2. When was Israel establised?
3. Are you saying that Palestinians wrre squatters at Gaza. This is the first time I heard this. Even israelists never said that.
