Destruction of Sebangan Rain Forest in Pictures

Is the destruction of this communal forest the price you pay for supporting the Barisan Nasional? If this is so, then your communal forest, "temuda-rimba", "pulau galau" will be the next. - The Broken Shield.

The "NCR lands" and the Dayaks have always been in unison. You can't take one away and leave the other. The land and whatever is in it, is our heritage, handed down from generation to generation. The rapid plundering and destruction of our land off its natural resources tantamounts to destroying our native heritage, culture, and animal species too.
Maybe Broken Shield should also show us pictures of the polluted river which we depend for our fish and water supply near these logging areas.
Enough is enough. We have just seen and witnessed the rules of the jungle applied by BN in these pictures. The bulldozer is working overtime before the locals can get a court injunction. What other areas have they earmarked for destruction too?

With all the write-ups, with all the photos, with all the grouses on native customary lands, NCR and whatever, the Dayak community would sell their souls for a mere RM200 per head/voter on the eve of the State election. So go prove my statement wrong. I am issuing this open challenge.

We can see the similar situation everywhere in Sarawak the destruction of flora and fauna not less causing hardships to the life of the natives prompting them to erect blockage in protest, contrary to the authority`s intention for providing employment opportunities and for the economic progress of the country. Let the people judge for themselves who and who is correct!

During PBDS era, the party exposed the widespread cronyism and corruption in the rape of Sarawak timber resources which led some quarters were not happy and I believed its de-registration was a plan to kill some of its leaders politically.

It could be " provisional lease disease" (PL disease) the term used by Awang Tengah in blaming contractors appointed by PL holders for encroachment in NCL or could it be act of two penghulus who were being prosecuted in court for allegedly helping others (land brokers) to make false claim on NCR land?

On the other hand, the landowners used the term "robbing" in the following issues. The land owners at Bakong in Miri dismantled two iron gates put up by LCDA because they said taking their plantation away from them was like "robbing" them of the livelihood. The villagers of Kampong Stenggang, Bau claimed to have had many sleepless nights due to what they alleged to be "apparently an act of robbery of their approximately 1,986 hectares of NCR land by a company which issued by the Land and Survey Department.

Whereas three major logging companies which are operating at Long Bangan and Long Nen in Ulu Baram described by Penan as disrupting logging and reforestation activities because of the decreasing jungle produce caused by logging activities.

How far the above issues are considered as dynamic and practical in land policy? Hopefully, NCR initiatives which are expected to take of by the end of the year will not create controversy.

Thieves in broad daylight. They are ripping of everything becos we kept voting this corrupted gov't for 43 years. If we have change earlier we would not have such problem. So now is time to make up our mind to throw out this gov't in this coming election so that we won't have thieves.

Mawan : Reject Pakatan Rakyat ; they are outsiders…

If this the best advice of William Mawan in his political career todate, to Sarawakians especially the Dayaks ? Is this the best William Mawan can do for his own community and Sarawakians, as the President of SPDP and as Minister of Social development and Urbanisation ?

I challenge William Mawan to advise all Sarawakians to reject all police officers, school teachers and civil servants who were posted to Sarawak from West Malaysia because they are all outsiders to him as well.

If William Mawan fails to take up my challenge to issue the same advise to all Sarawakians, he should rightly step down as a minister and as president of SPDP to hole up with his girlfriends in his cosy pub located at Batu Kawa.

Perhaps by then he is no longer beholden to Taib Mahmud and will have the courage to tell Taib Mahmud to give back all his ill gotten wealth he has stolen from Sarawakians.

As we watch helplessly the destruction of NCR land, our forests, our streams, their activities will continue until its all gone, all in the name of Politics of Development which we as voters supported in the beginning when BN returned to power after the last Elections process.

So what action after this? I for one, has ran out of ideas because our people are easily duped, 'cheaply' bought by these unscrupulous people.

This problem is “quite similar” with China’s Hainan (including other developing and under developing countries), where excessive power, money and appetite rule!

And I guess that some of you have read about what had happened in Nauru!

Talking about sustainable socio-economics development?! Well, the “illiterate” tycoons won’t buy it, as long as the money comes in!

How come no Dayak reps come to our aid when we need them to protect our land? In the case of Kampung Stenggang, Mr.Ranum and Mr. Tiki are sound asleep. Sleep well then, till the next election!
